My name is Paige Broadworth and I am a Shelby Township area piano teacher whose goal is to foster a love of music and learning. I believe that music is a special companion that can bring one joy, comfort, and fun. My goal is to help students foster a healthy relationship with music, and by extension, themselves. I have been playing the piano for over 20 years both professionally and recreationally. I have taught piano for 8 years. I studied under Dr. Scott Price and Dr. Sara Ernst at the University of South Carolina, earning my Master's Degree in Piano Pedagogy. I also hold a Bachelor's Degree in Piano Performance from Oakland University under Dr. Tian Tian, with 3 years of music education coursework. My lessons are well-rounded, goal-oriented, rewarding, and individualized based on student needs and interests. Students can expect to discover a wide range of repertoire. They will learn how to engage with music through playing, ear-training, transposition, keyboard technique, music history, music theory and analysis, improvisation, lead-sheet reading, and sight-reading. However, students will be undertaking a far greater task in their lessons: They will become problem-solvers, independent learners, disciplined time managers, and self-assured young artists. Students will be asked to make their own musical decisions and take ownership over the messages they send through music, as they discover music's power to communicate and connect people. Because music is meant to be shared, students are regularly invited to participate in seasonal recitals, RCM, and Piano SAT, and Trinity Exams. In my free time I enjoy crochet, arts and crafts, bike rides, and Taylor Swift. I look forward to being your guide on this journey!
